Non-filing or late filing of GST returns can result in:
Late Fee: For delayed filing of applicable returns, late fees may be imposed under the GST law. The amount varies depending on the type of return, number of days delayed and whether the return is a Nil return. The Government may also prescribe reduced/waived late fees for specified periods.
Interest: Where tax remains unpaid, interest is generally payable on the outstanding tax liability for the period of delay.
Other Consequences:
Note: GST late fees and other consequences are subject to the applicable return, tax period and notifications/amendments in force for that period.
